Round Brilliant

The round brilliant diamond is the most popular diamond shape, due to the way these diamonds are cut, the round diamond is generally superior to fancy diamond shapes at the reflection of light, maximising it’s potential brightness.

Round diamonds cost more on a per carat basis than fancy shapes for two reasons; first, the demand for round diamonds is very high, and secondly because more of the rough stone is lost in the cutting of a round diamond.

Round Brilliant Cont...

Round brilliant diamonds suit all hand types, and appear larger per carat than other cuts. Because of the multitude of facets in a round brilliant and SI1 clarity will result in a nice clear diamond.

Round diamonds shape also lends themselves to all hand types – having a loving effect no matter what shape your hands may be.

Emerald Cut

The unique look of the emerald cut diamond is created by the step cuts of its pavilion and its large, open table. Instead of the sparkle of a round brilliant-cut, emerald cut diamonds produce a hall-of-mirrors effect, with the interplay of light and dark planes.

While they may sparkle less, the long lines and dramatic flashes of light give the emerald cut an elegant appeal. The shape was originally developed for the cutting of emeralds, thus the name.

Emerald Cut Cont...

The long straight lines of an emerald cut diamond demand perfection – there are very few facets on an emerald cut diamond and thus nothing to hide any natural inclusions.

Emerald cut diamonds vary from nearly square to a narrow rectangle. The classic emerald cut diamond has a length to width ratio of around 1.50.

Oval Cut

An oval cut diamond or gemstone is an ideal choice for those who like the look of a round brilliant, but would like something more unique. Oval diamonds have the added advantage of an elongated shape, which can create the illusion of greater size. The slender shape can also make the finger of the wearer appear longer and slimmer, an effect often desired.

Oval Cut Cont...

Oval diamonds are a modified brilliant-cut (like virtually all round cuts). Because the two shapes possess a similar fire and brilliance.

Oval cuts vary on how narrow or fat the gemstone or diamond should be, so choose what appeals to you personally, a length to width ratio of 1.35 – 1.50 is considered the classic oval cut.
