What diamonds and gemstones are you able to source?

For engagement rings we offer diamond, sapphire, ruby, emerald and spinel. An engagement ring using diamonds and a coloured gemstone is a lifetime piece and is worn on a daily basis. The gemstone used needs to not only beautiful to the eye, it also needs to be a hard wearing and resilient stone, to withstand the wear and tear of busy hands on a daily basis. For fine jewellery we offer a wider array of gemstones. If you are after a particularly rare gemstone we may be able to help, however this comes at an extra cost, for the extensive time it takes to scour the earth for a particular stone.

Is there any maximum size diamond or gemstone you are able to source?

The size of diamond or gemstone is only limited by your own expectation of budget. We do encourage our clients to think of the practicality and wearability or the purpose for a larger gemstone. We have been commissioned to secure some breathtakingly beautiful diamonds and gems over the years that have been procured as a family heirloom asset, which increases in value, that can becomes an inter-generational source of wealth which can also be enjoyed when worn, mounted in an item of fine jewellery.

What are the ethics behind your diamonds and gemsotnes?

The definition of the term ethical sourcing means; sustainable and ethical mining practices, humanitarian efforts, the safe treatment of miners, and more stringent diamond sourcing. All of our diamonds are sourced through suppliers who have continuously maintained ethical standards. All of our diamonds can be traced from mine to consumer through various processes such as the Kimberly Process.

Where do you source your diamonds and gemstones from?

Having been in the jewellery industry for 60 years, and have developed strong relationships with suppliers. Our diamond acquisitions are purchased on stringent certification criteria and are hand picked for us by our trusted diamond suppliers. Mostly we work with a small group of suppliers in New York however we also have close working relationships with suppliers in other major diamond centres such as Antwerp. Mumbai & Hong Kong. Like us, they have been trading in diamonds & gemstones over several generations of the same family. These bonds of trust allow us the total piece of mind, that every diamond we order excels our expectations for quality.

With any purchase, a budget is often a driving factor. Knowing your expectation on the financial outlay, provides Guthries clarity when it comes to selecting the very best possible for your consideration.
